Objective
To establish uniform guidelines for the identification of attorneys and frequent visitors that are authorized to enter the Fort Bend County Justice Center and bypass security screening. LGC 291.010 authorizes a reasonable fee to be set by the County Commissioners for the issuance of a badge.
Attorney’s Criteria
- Must be a practicing attorney with an office in Fort Bend County, reside in Fort Bend County or a practicing attorney in a one of the contiguous counties:
- Austin County
- Brazoria County
- Harris County
- Waller County
- Wharton County
- Must meet the following requirements:
- Have a valid Texas Driver’s License
- Eligible to practice law in the State of Texas
- Have no outstanding warrants or pending criminal charges
- If you are issued a badge and, at any point during the badge’s active year, you are charged with a criminal offense, the badge must be returned immediately.
- The badge will not be reissued until Card Access receives documentation of the case disposition.
d. No misdemeanor convictions less than 3 years prior to application date.
e. No felony convictions less than 10 years prior to application date.
Frequent Visitor’s Criteria
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older and have an occupation that requires them to conduct court business in the Justice Center
- 2 Must meet the following requirements:
- Have a valid Texas Driver’s License
- Have no outstanding warrants or pending criminal charges
- If you are issued a badge and, at any point during the badge’s active year, you are charged with a criminal offense, the badge must be returned immediately.
- The badge will not be reissued until Card Access receives documentation of the case disposition.

Badge Policy
Attorney or Frequent Visitor badges must be displayed to the Justice Center Security Staff to be exempt from the normal courthouse security screening.
- All firearms or any other type of weapons are prohibited from being brought into the facility.
- The badge will only grant you access to the Justice Center during normal business hours.
- The card does not grant access to secured areas.
- All badges have an expiration date printed on them and cannot be used to bypass security after the date indicated on the card.
- All Attorney and Frequent Visitor Badges issued during the current year, and previous calendar year are the property of FORT BEND COUNTY and must be returned to Card Access upon the expiration.
- All badges must ONLY be picked up by the Attorney or Frequent Visitor who's name is on the application. No one else can pick up your badge.
